Natural treatments and effective home remedies for stomach ache

Stomach ache is a very common problem. In many cases is not a serious problem, but also there are cases in which people should be worried about it. It can vary with the related symptoms and degree of discomfort. Your pain can be mild or sharp. It can be located in your abdomen or in your stomach. You can feel some of the following symptoms: diarrhea, vomiting, bloating, gas, stomach cramps, and nausea.

The most common causes of stomach ache are lactose intolerance, gas, a stomach infection, heartburn, overeating, indigestion, and constipation. But also, there are other causes for this pain which can be linked with other serious diseases such as urinary tract infection, gall stones, ulcers, appendicitis, and hernia. When you suffer from stomach ache, then you have difficulties with your concentration.

You cannot do everyday activities. You want to rid of your pain as soon as possible. If you have noticed that your stomach ache lasts more than 3 days and you have a headache or fever, then you must talk with your doctor. There are some home remedies and natural cures which can help you to improve your condition. These home remedies will help you if have a stomach ache, which is caused by bloating, gas, and indigestion.

9 Natural cures for stomach ache

Ginger

This kind of vegetable has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which can help you to regulate the digestion process, which means that this will be an effective home remedy if you suffer from stomach aches [1]. When you add ginger to your diet, then you decrease the production of free radicals, which can cause you serious diseases. Also, it can help you to increase the digestive juices in your body. This will help you to neutralize the stomach ache and feel better. You will need to cut one medium-sized ginger root. It should be fresh. Cut this ginger into thin slices. In one cup of water, you should add the ginger slices. Boil them for a period of 3 minutes. Then, you should simmer this mixture for a period of 5 minutes.

You should remove this mixture from the heat. Then, you should strain it. If you want to have a better taste of this mixture, then you should add honey to it. Then, you should sip this mixture slowly. You should drink this mixture 2 – 3 times per day because in this way you will help yourself to get relief from the stomach ache and also you can improve digestion.

Warm compress

If you have a stomach ache, then you should use a warm compress because the heat will improve your condition. It speeds up the digestion process, and also it increases circulation. When the food is digested in a proper way, then you can feel that your stomach ache is gone. [2]

In a cup of hot water, you should add one teaspoon of crushed fennel seeds. You should let this mixture steep for 8 – 10 minutes. Then, you should remove the mixture from the heat. If you do not want to drink this kind of mixture, then you can chew one or ½ teaspoon of fennel seeds after your meals. You can choose which remedy you want to use as your treatment. This kind of herb is also known as hing. When this problem is caused by indigestion and gas. In a glass of warm water, you should add a pinch of asafoetida. Then, you should mix this mixture. You should drink this mixture 2 – 3 times per day. If you want, you can add rock salt to this mixture. If you suffer from gas and stomach ache, then you should use this kind of mixture. In one cup of warm water, you should add one teaspoon of asafoetida. Then, you should soak a cotton cloth in this mixture. Then, you should put the cotton on your stomach. Let it stay from 10 – 15 minutes. This will help you to reduce the pain and to soothe the stomach. You should repeat this method several times per day. [4]

In a cup, you should put one teaspoon of dried chamomile. Then, you should put boiling water in this cup. Then, you should cover the cup. You should allow this tea to steep for fifteen minutes. Then, you should strain it. You can add honey or lemon juice to it if you cannot stand just the pure chamomile taste. Then, you should sip the chamomile tea in a slow way. You should drink this kind of tea 2 – 3 times per day.

Baking soda and lemon

Baking soda can restore the pH in your body because it acts like an alkaline element. Also, this product can fight against infections in your body. It will help you to reduce the gas, bloating, and stomach ache. You should also use lemon as your natural remedy because it has high amounts of Vitamin C. This vitamin can help you to remove the free radicals from your body. Also, it can help you to detoxify your body. In a glass of warm water, you should add ¼ teaspoon of salt, one teaspoon of baking soda, and juice from one lemon. You should drink this remedy as soon as possible before the fizz fizzles out of it. You should use this kind of remedy 3 times per day until you have noticed that your condition is improved. If you are on low–sodium diet or you have high blood pressure, then you should not drink this remedy.

Peppermint

If you have a stomach ache, then you should use peppermint as your remedy. If you want to make tea from it, then you should add one teaspoon of dried peppermint leaves to one cup full of boiling water. You should let this remedy steep for 5 – 10 minutes. Then, you should strain it. You can add a small amount of honey to this tea. Then, you should sleep this tea in a slow way. If you want to have quick relief from the stomach ache, then you should chew some fresh peppermint leaves.

Apple cider vinegar

If your stomach ache is caused by indigestion or gas, then you should use apple cider vinegar as your natural remedy. It has antibiotic properties which can help you to improve your digestion and also you can get relief from your stomach ache. In a cup of warm water, you should add one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Then, you can add one tablespoon of honey. You should drink this home remedy several times per day until you have noticed that your condition is improved. If you do not have apple cider vinegar in your house, then you can use regular vinegar.

Yogurt

You should consume yogurt on a regular basis because it is good for you not just when you have a stomach ache but also for your whole stomach. Yogurt, which has good bacteria or also known as live culture, can improve your digestion [7]. Also, this kind of yogurt can help you to improve your condition if you suffer from a stomach ache that is caused by indigestion.

In a cup of water, you should add a pinch of salt and two tablespoons of plain yogurt. Then, you should add 3 teaspoons of juice that you have extracted from fresh coriander leaves. Then, you should add ½ teaspoon of cardamom powder. When you are done with your meals, then you should drink this remedy one hour after them. This will help you to improve your condition. Also, you can eat unsweetened and plain yogurt several times per day until you have noticed that your stomach aches are gone.
