Home Remedies and Natural Treatments for Dandruff

Dandruff is hair condition of dry scalp, called seborrheic dermatitis. This scalp disorder also can be caused by dry skin, growth of bacteria, irritated oily skin and fungus on the scalp, inflammatory skin conditions and other similar factors. You can see white or yellow flakes on your scalp, on your shoulders and sometimes these flakes are seen on all your body, which is serious skin problem. The good news is that you have solutions to have clean and clear hair scalp by following health hair routine. There are home remedies and many cosmetic products. It depends on you what you will use. It is true that home remedies take more long time to give you results, but with using home remedies you will be sure that your hair will be more powerful and healthy than using cosmetics. Here are some natural remedies for dandruff:

Dandruff – Home Remedies and Natural Cures

Indian lilac

Indian lilac, also known as neem, has antibacterial and antifungal properties  [1] which help not just on dandruff problems, but also they are helping to other scalp problems, for example: itchy scalp, scalp acne and hair fall efficiently. To make this mask you will need four coups of water, than you need to boil a handful of Indian lilac leaves in this amount of water. After you have boiled the leaves from neem, you should cool and strain the solution. Put this mask on your hair two or three times at week.

Coconut oil

Antifungal properties which are contained coconut oil will help you to win against the dandruff. Your scalp will be dry and you will not longer feel itching, you will be relieved from these two conditions. To make mask from coconut oil you will need some coconut oil and lemon juice, half from the amount of the coconut oil. The next step is to rub this mask on your scalp and to massage your scalp for a few minutes. You should leave the mask to dry at least 20 minutes, then to wash your hair. To have quality results you will need to use this mask two or three times a week. [2]

Baking soda

Soda helps remove dead skin cells, help balance pH levels on the scalp, absorbs excess oil and reduce the growth of fungi that cause dandruff. To make mask from soda you need to handful baking soda to put on your scalp and before you put the soda you should wet your hair. Let this mask be on your scalp for few minutes and after this period rinse your hair with warm water. If want to have better results you should do this treatment two or three times a few weeks. Also it is important to remember that you should not wash your hair with shampoo after you have made this treatment.

Apple Cider Vinegar

If you want to get rid of dandruff, than apple cider vinegar is the right solution for you. Apple cider vinegar helps to restore pH levels on your scalp, works as a natural hair clarifier, helps clean hair follicles, help cleaning clogged pores and also thereby inhibiting the growth of yeast. To make a mask from apple cider vinegar you will need two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. Also you need an equal amount of water mixed with apple cider vinegar and after you have mixed this mask you should put 15-20 drops of tea tree oil in it. When your mask is done, you should massage yourself with this mask and to let this on your scalp for few minutes. After this you should rinse your hair. For better results you should do this treatment two or three times per week.

Fenugreek

Fenugreek also known as methi seeds can also help you with your dandruff. Anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties which contain fenugreek will help to your hair and scalp not to have white flakes and itchy and dry scalp. To make a mask from fenugreek you will need one cup water, one cup apple cider vinegar and tablespoons fenugreek. Soak fenugreek in water overnight. Make paste from the fenugreek in the morning. To complete the mask you will need to put one cup apple cider vinegar in the mix from water and fenugreek and after you have mixed this mask you should apply it on your scalp. Let the mask dry on your hair for thirty minutes and after that you should wash your hair with mild shampoo. This mask can help you to relieve from itchy and dry scalp. [3]

Tea tree oil

Studies has shown that if you put tea tree oil in your shampoo will help you a lot against the dandruff. When you wash your hair you can add few drops in your shampoo and to wash your hair as normally. [4]

White Vinegar

Many cases have shown that the white vinegar is one of the best natural cures for dandruff. Acetic acid which is contained in the white vinegar can prevent to grow fungi on your scalp and to relieve you from itching. To make mask from white vinegar you will need two cups of water and one half cup white vinegar. Mix this two and after you have mixed them well rinse your hair with this mixture and after this wash your hair with shampoo. Another option that you can do is to mix one part olive oil, two parts white vinegar and three parts water. You should live this mask for ten minutes, after this to rinse your hair and wash your hair with mild shampoo. If you want to have good results you should need to repeat this mask two or three times per week.

Olive oil

Olive oil is natural moisturizer. This natural moisturizer will help you with your dry scalp and to relieve from your dandruff [5]. To make mask from the olive oil you should heat some extra virgin olive oil until is slightly warm. You should massage your hair with this mix and after this wrap your hair with warm towel. Leave this mask for 45 minutes in your hair and after 45 minutes have passed you should wash your hair with shampoo. To have better and quality results you should repeat this mask few times per week. Lemon

Lemon contains vitamin C and acidic which will help you to win against the dandruff. You can squeeze this natural remedy or just rub it directly on your scalp. To make mask from lemon you will need to juice four lemons or raw lemon slices. You should rub lemon slices on your dry scalp and after this you should leave it for ten-fifteen minutes. After this mask has stayed on your scalp you should rinse your hair with plain water. This mask you should apply once per week to have results.

Aspirin

If you are thinking to use medical shampoo for your dandruff, then better rid of your idea and start using aspirin. The aspirin has the same active ingredients which help on the scalp. All you need is to crush two aspirins as a powder and to add this powder in normal shampoo (do not need to be medical shampoo for dandruff) and you can you each time you wash your hair. Let this mask be one or two minutes on your hair, then rinse well and in the end you should wash again your hair with plain shampoo.

Mouthwash

If you have problem with your scalp and it’s itchy and dry than you should wash your hair with regular shampoo and then rinse it your scalp with mouthwash which is alcohol-based. Mouthwash has anti-fungal properties which are preventing your hair and your scalp from dandruff and its possibilities to growth again and again. Follow this step with your regular conditioner.

Salt

Before using your shampoo, you should try ordinary table salt to resolve the problem with your scalp. You need salt-shaker and you should shake this salt on your hair when is dry. After this you should massage your hair with this amount of salt. The last step is to shampoo your hair. After you have completed the whole massage you will see that your scalp is not dry and the flakes from your skin are gone. If you want better results you should repeat this more times.

Garlic

Garlic has anti-fungal properties which are eliminating the anti-dandruff bacteria. To make mask from this plant you should crush garlic and rub it on your scalp. Because the garlic has smell which is known to most of us many medical organizations have told that to avoid this smell you should mix garlic with honey and to massage your hair with this mix. After you have completed this step you should wash your hair as normal. [7]

Aloe Vera gel

Anti-fungal properties which contain aloe Vera gel are helpful to your scalp, making it dry and clean and also relieve from itching. Many cases have shown that this aloe Vera gel has won so many times against the dandruff. To make mask from aloe Vera gel you will need 5 tablespoons aloe Vera gel. You can use the aloe Vera gel which is many stores is having or you can scoop out gel from aloe plant. You should massage your scalp with aloe Vera gel and let this mask for 30 minutes. You have to be sure that your hair is not oiled. After 30 have passed you should wash your hair with mild shampoo or with plain water. If your hair is dry, frizzy you can do this mask every day. [8]
