The production of gas is a natural part of the digestive process but there are many people dread the possibility of passing gas in front of others. When someone has an uncontrollable fart, then other people can make this person the butt of the joke for all years that are coming. But the problematic gas is not something that we should laugh about. There are many causes which can lead to excess gas in the stomach such as digestive disorders, some kind of bacterial infection, too much stress, eating spicy and gas – forming food, not chewing your food thoroughly and an excessive drinking. The symptom of stomach gas is including stomach pain, belching, abdominal bloating, and a coating on the tongue, lack of appetite, bad breath and flatulence. But you can treat this problem with some natural cures.

Home remedies for stomach gas (flatulence)

Garlic: Garlic has pungent heating quality which stimulates the gastric fire and also it gives a relief from the stomach gas. You should try some garlic soup to reduce the gas and to help you with proper digestion [1]. If you want to have the best results, then you should use fresh garlic. Also you can boil some ground garlic in water for a few minutes and you should add a small amount of black pepper and cumin seeds. You should strain it and let it cool to room temperature. You should drink this natural cure 2 or 3 times per day and you will notice the results in a few days.

Warm water: In some cases when we have gas, we feel severe stomach ache and we are unable to eat anything. In these cases we should drink warm water at regular intervals [2]. This will help you to maintain water levels in your body and also you will rid of the gas.

Baking soda and lemon: Baking soda and lemon is one of the most used natural cures for gas and when they are in a combination, then it is making it an effective antacid. You should put the juice of one fresh lemon in one glass and then you should add some baking soda to it. This will cause fizzing and then you should add some more baking soda and a cup of water. You should stir it well so the baking soda dissolves completely. You should drink this home remedy slowly. You should mix one teaspoon of ajwain (carom seeds) and black salt in a cup of buttermilk. If you do not have carom seeds at the moment, then you can use celery seeds. You should drink this home remedy. But also the freshly churned buttermilk can help you to cure indigestion.

Ginger: This is an effective indigestion treatment and also it can give you a relief from the gas problem [2]. You should take equal parts of cardamom, fennel and grounded ginger. You should mix these ingredients thoroughly. You should take a cup of water. You should add one teaspoon of this mixture and a pinch of hing (asafoetida) in it. You should drink this home remedy once or twice per day. Also you can consume a little ginger juice mixed with a pinch of asafoetida. You should chew a fresh piece of ginger regularly after meals because this will help you to prevent gas from forming. Also you can add small amounts of dried or fresh ginger to your food. You can drink ginger tea because it will help you to control the formation of gas in your stomach. You should boil one tablespoons of ground ginger in water for a few minutes. You should drink this tea 2 or 3 times per day. Also there is another option which you can do and that is to add a few drops of ginger essential oil to any kind of base oil and you should rub this natural cure on your stomach.

Cinnamon: This natural cure will soothe your stomach and also it will prevent further formation of gas [5]. In a cup of warm milk you should add ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder. Also you can make cinnamon tea by adding some cinnamon powder to one cup of boiling water. You should let it steep for a few minutes and then you should drink it.

Fennel: This is one of the best natural cures which will give you a relief from the gas and bloating in a very quick way [2]. You should add a few fennel seeds to a pot of hot water and you should let it simmer for 5 minutes on a low temperature. You should strain this natural cure and then you should drink it. Also you can chew some fresh fennel leaves if you can bear the taste. Also you can mix mint leaves, cardamom and fennel and you should boil them in water to make a concoction which can help you to get a relief from the stomach gas.

Asafoetida: This is also one of the best home remedies for gas. It has anti – flatulent and anti – spasmodic properties [6]. You should add a pinch of asafoetida to a glass of warm water. Mix it well and you should drink it 2 or 3 times per day. Also you can make a paste of asafoetida by adding a small amount of water. You should apply this paste on your stomach and you should allow it to dry for a few minutes. Soon you will notice that your gas will dissipate. Also you can put a small amount of asafoetida into a ripe banana and you should eat it. You should do this natural treatment two times per day.

Cardamom: This is also one of the best natural cures which can speed up the digestion and also it can give you a relief from the stomach gas [7]. You should add some roasted cardamom powder to vegetables, rice or lentils before you cook because this can help you to prevent gas. Also you can chew whole pods of cardamom 2 or 3 times per day to get a relief from the stomach gas. Also you can make a tea by steeping a few pods of cardamom along with a small slice of fresh ginger and one teaspoon of fennel in boiling water for several minutes. Black pepper: This natural cure is considered to be the best Ayurvedic medicine for healing indigestion and acidity. Its properties help in increasing the hydrochloric acid release in your stomach. You should take powdered pepper with jiggery because this will help you to cure the gastric irritation. You should take dried mint leaves, coriander seeds, ginger powder and black pepper in equal amounts. You should prepare a mixture after grinding them. You should have a teaspoon of this mixture two times in a day. Also you can use pepper with buttermilk.

Peppermint: You can use this natural cure in different ways to treat a gas problem [9]. You should make a tea by adding some fresh peppermint leaves to one cup of boiling water and you should let it steep for a few minutes. You should strain it and then you should add some honey. You should drink this type of tea 2 or 3 times per day. Also you can chew some peppermint leaves to get a quick relief from the gas. Also you can put 2 drops of peppermint oil in ½ cup of cool water and you should drink it once or twice per day.

Caraway seeds (Kala Jeera): Caraway seed tea is used as natural treatment for gastric disorders [10]. To prepare this tea, you should add one teaspoon of caraway seeds in one cup of boiling water. You should steep this mixture for a few minutes. After steeping, you should strain this tea and you should drink it before you have dinner or lunch. Also you can chew roasted caraway seeds mixed with rock salt.
