Home remedies for skin rash – coriander, neem and olive oil

Skin rashes are characterized by red and itchy skin, which is often accompanied by small bumps or other changes in the skin’s texture, appearance, or color. Rashes can appear on any part of the body, and also they can be widely distributed on large portions of the skin. This is a minor but irritating problem.

There are many factors that can cause it, such as contact with certain poisonous plants like poison ivy or oak, excessive sweating, acne, mites, insect bites, allergies, psoriasis, and eczema. Also, cosmetics, shampoos, detergents, and soaps which do not suit your skin can lead to rashes. Rashes can also be a symptom of certain viral, bacterial or fungal infections as well.

Apple cider vinegar

One of the best home remedies which you can use to treat skin rash is raw and organic apple cider vinegar. This home remedy can calm the itching. It has acetic acid content, which can help to fight skin infections that could be aggravating or cause a skin rash.

You should dip a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar and place it on the affected area. You should let it stay there for a few minutes, and then you should remove the cotton ball. You should do this natural treatment several times per day for a period of a few days or until your rash clears.

If you have noticed that the apple cider vinegar causes you irritation, then you should dilute it with water before you apply it. If the irritation persists, then you should try another home remedy. [1]

Coriander

This is a very effective Ayurvedic home remedy for rashes and itchy skin because it has antiseptic, soothing, anti-inflammatory, and anti-irritant properties [2]. It has an inviting scent, which is also relaxing and calming.

You should apply a paste of ground coriander leaves to the affected area. Let it stay there for at least 30 minutes, and then wash it off. You should do this natural treatment once or twice per day for a period of a few days.

Cold compress

A cold compress is a very effective home remedy for reducing rashes, especially those that are caused by shingles, poison ivy, insect bites, and heat. It can help to ease inflammation, swelling, and itching.

Also, this is a very helpful home remedy if the rash begins to develop into blisters.

You should put ice cubes in a sealed plastic bag, and you should place them on the affected area for a few minutes. You should repeat this natural treatment a few times per day for a period of a few days.

Also, there is another option, and that is to soak a washcloth in ice-cold water and place it on the affected place for ten minutes.

You should not put ice cubes directly on the skin.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is one of the best natural treatments for many different skin ailments in which skin rashes are also included due to its antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and emollient properties. It can heal the skin rash, but also it will reduce redness, relieve itching and soothe the skin.

You should extract the Aloe Vera gel from an aloe leaf. You should apply this gel to the affected area. Let it stay there for twenty minutes, and then rinse it off. You should do this natural treatment at least 3 times per day until the rash clears. If you do not have fresh Aloe Vera gel, then you should buy Aloe Vera extract or gel. [3,4]

Oatmeal

This home remedy is very helpful for alleviating skin irritation and inflammation because it has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties [5].

This is one of the best home remedies for skin rashes that are caused by allergies, chickenpox, sunburn, eczema, and poison ivy.

You should grind oatmeal in a coffee grinder, food processor, or blender. You should mix one cup of finely ground oatmeal in warm bath water. You should soak your body in this water for at least fifteen to twenty minutes. You should do this natural treatment once per day until the rash is gone.

Also, there is another option, and that is to mix 2 teaspoons of honey, ¼ cup of milk powder, and ½ cup of oatmeal. You should put this mixture in a muslin cloth. Tie this cloth strongly with a rubber band, ribbon, or string, and then you should place it in a bathtub filled with warm water. You should soak in this natural treatment for at least fifteen minutes. Finally, you should pat dry, and you should moisturize your skin.

You should repeat this natural treatment on a daily basis for a period of a few days. If you have rashes on your face, then you should apply a thick paste which is made of equal amounts of plain yogurt and oatmeal mixed with a little honey. You should let it stay there for about thirty minutes before you wash it off. You should do this natural treatment on a daily basis until you see improvements in your condition.

Baking soda

This home remedy can help to dry out skin rashes. Also, it can give relief from the inflammation and itching that are associated with rashes.

You should add one part of baking soda to 3 parts of water. You should apply this home remedy to the rashes. Let it stay there for a few minutes before you rinse it off. You should do this natural treatment once per day for a period of a few days.

Also, there is another option, and that is to mix baking soda with some coconut oil. Make a paste of it and then apply it to the affected area. You should let it stay there for about 5 minutes and then rinse it off. You should repeat this naturally once or twice per day until you see improvement in your condition.

You should not leave the baking soda too long on your skin because it can cause further irritation.

Olive oil

The extra–virgin olive oil works as a great skin moisturizer, promote skin renewal, and facilitate healing because it is rich in antioxidants and Vitamin E.

This home remedy can help to soothe your skin, and also it will reduce itching. You should simply rub extra–virgin olive oil on your rash a few times per day until it heals completely.

Also, you can do this natural treatment with a combination of equal amounts of honey and olive oil.

Also, there is another option, and that is to add a little turmeric powder to some olive oil.

Apply this home remedy 2 or 3 times per day for a period of a few days. Turmeric has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, which can soothe rashes, and will give you relief from itching.

Coconut oil and castor oil can also help to heal the rash in a natural way. A combination of cod liver oil and Vitamin E is also another popular home remedy for skin rashes. [6]

Also, it has antioxidants that can defend your skin against aging, and it can rejuvenate skin cells.

You should simmer a handful of neem leaves in water for fifteen to twenty minutes. You should strain this home remedy and then allow it to cool. You should soak a cotton ball in this home remedy and then place it on the affected area for at least ten minutes.

You should do this natural treatment a couple of times per day for a period of a few days. Also, you can use neem products such as neem leaf extract, lotion, cream, or soap. When you are applying neem oil, then you should be sure to dilute it with carrier oil or water because it is too strong to use alone. [4]

Chamomile

This is a very effective home remedy that you can use for rashes. It promotes healing, reduces inflammation, relieves itching, and soothes the skin because it has anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant properties.

Also, it has antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial properties.  You should soak a clean washcloth in chamomile tea, and you should place it on the affected area as a compress. You should let it stay there for ten to fifteen minutes. You should do this natural treatment at least 2 or 3 times per day for a period of a few days.

Also, there is another option, and that is to use chamomile essential oil by diluting a couple of drops in 2 teaspoons of coconut oil or another coconut oil. You should apply this home remedy a few times per day until your rash is gone. [4]
