Piles also known as hemorrhoid is condition which affects on many people, mostly between ages 45 and 65. When the veins in the anus and rectum become swollen and inflamed they cause piles. There are many factors which can contribute to them, such as family history, lack of physical activity, obesity, food allergies, pregnancy, heavy lifting, prolonged sitting or standing, gravity, low-fiber diet and constipation. If you are overweight, you should exercise a lot. Even if you have hemorrhoids and because of your condition will be hard for exercising, you should walk at least as much as you can. You should not let yourself to be overweight person, because this also led to other diseases. Most piles disappear in few days. If you do not touch piles, they will be gone on their own. If you feel that your condition is not improving you should ask for medical help. There are two types of piles-external and internal. Internal piles are inside the rectum and external piles are below the skin around the anus. There are home remedies and medicines. If you have serious piles (hard stool, you are bleeding a lot), you should ask for medical advice. Your doctor will always know what the best medical treatment for you is. Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is known as one of the best natural remedies for treating hemorrhoids. Aloe Vera has anti-inflammatory and therapeutic properties [1]. These properties help reduce the irritation of hemorrhoids. Aloe Vera is used for both internal and external piles. If you have external hemorrhoids, you should apply a little bit of Aloe Vera gel to your anus and slowly massage the area. This remedy will give quality results. It will relief you from the pain and soothes the burning sensation. If you have internal hemorrhoids, you should cut Aloe Vera in strips. You should be sure that you have cut off the thorn-like parts of the plant. After you have cut off the Aloe Vera place the slices in a container and freeze them. You should apply the icy cold Aloe Vera strips to the painful piles to relieve the pain, itching and burning sensation.
Olive Oil
Olive oil contains antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It is used primarily to threat external piles. It will help you to increase the elasticity of blood vessels. Vessels will help you to reduce the inflammation. Also vessels will help you to shrink the size of swollen blood vessels in the anal canal. You should consume one teaspoon of olive oil daily. This will help you to reduce the inflammation and monounsaturated fats will improve the functionality of the excretory system. To make another remedy from olive oil you should crush the juice out of some plum leaves and add it to olive oil. After you have made this mixture you should apply on your hemorrhoids. Lemon juice
Lemon juice contains various nutrients that can help you with your hemorrhoids. It can give you relief from hemorrhoids by strengthening the capillaries and blood vessels walls [3]. Squeeze fresh lemon juice. Saturate a cotton ball with the fresh lemon juice which you have squeezed. Apply it on the hemorrhoids. You might feel burning sensation, but soon you will have relief from the pain. If you do not like to put this lemon juice on your hemorrhoids, than you should squeeze half a lemon juice into a cup of hot milk and drink it. Use this remedy in every three hours to have best results. Another remedy from lemon juice is to mix one half-spoon lemon juice, mint juice, ginger juice and honey together. You should drink it once per day.
Almond oil
Almond oil is used for external piles. It has emollient and deep tissue properties which are helping to relief the pain from hemorrhoids. If you want to use this remedy, you should dip a cotton ball in pure almond oil and apply the oil in the affected area. It eases and moisturizes inflammation. Also it will relieve the burning and itching sensation in and around the anus. If you want to have better results, you should this treatment several times a day. [4]
Ice
The first home remedy you should do is with ice. Ice will reduce the swelling, constrict the blood vessels and give you relief from the pain. You can also apply one ice pack wrapped in a cloth directly on the affected area. You should let this ice to be on affected area for 10 minutes. If you do this treatment several times a day, hemorrhoids will go away. You can also use a small pack of frozen vegetables such as corn and peas. You should wrap the pack in a tea towel and then apply it on the hemorrhoids. Do this remedy for 20 minutes at a time, three times a day. [5]
Whole Grains
To get relief from hemorrhoids, you should eat whole grain products. Whole grain products contain a large amount of fiber which is effective to give relief from hemorrhoids and bleeding. These products can also help you if you have other gastrointestinal disease because is preventing the constipations and it is allowing to the colon to work more efficiently. Also this food can reduce straining during bowel movements. It softens stools and increases its bulk. The best whole grain products for hemorrhoids are: quinoa, brown rice, millet, maize, oats, buckwheat and barley.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar contains of astringent properties which are helping to shrink swollen blood vessels and will give you relief from irritation and swelling of both internal and external hemorrhoids. If you use unfiltered and unpasteurized apple cider vinegar, than you will have better and more quality results. If you have external hemorrhoids, than you should gently press cotton ball soaked in apple cider vinegar against the inflamed area. You will feel stinging sensation. But after this stinging sensation passes, you will soon feel relief from itching and irritation. You should try this several times a day until the swelling decreases. If you have internal hemorrhoids, you should make one mixture. This mixture is the next: add one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to a glass of water and drink it at least twice a day. If you do not like the taste, you can also add honey in it, so you can improve the taste. [6]
Witch Hazel
Witch hazel contains of healing and astringent properties. These properties will help you to ease the discomfort associated with hemorrhoids. The astringent property will help relief you from the pain, itching, and swelling and will help shrink inflamed blood vessels. To make one remedy of witch hazel you should soak a cotton ball in undistilled witch hazel and apply this remedy on the hemorrhoids. You should do this at least three times daily. You can also buy medicated pads. These medical pads contain witch hazel. These moist wiping pads can be used in lieu. Also they can be used in combination with toilet paper. This is one of the best ways to protect the anus from microorganisms and irritation. [7]
Water
When you have hemorrhoids, no matter if they are external or internal, you should increase your water intake. You should drink eight to ten glasses of water per day if you want to have better results. This amount of water will help you to clean your internal system. Also it will hydrate your entire body. Water also keeps the stools soft and facilitates bowel movements. You should consume to complete the needs of your body. If your amount of consumed water is small, the process of flushing waste out of the body slows down and there can be a backlog in the bowel. This will result with hard stools. Hard stools will make more serious problems to your hemorrhoids. If your hemorrhoids are persistent and they are bleeding, you must go to the doctor. Your doctor will recommend you the right treatment which you must listen and take care of yourself.
Black tea bags
Black tea contains tannic acid. Tannic acid will help you to reduce swelling and pain associated with hemorrhoids. To make remedy from this tea, you should put a black tea bag in hot water. Remove the black tea bag from the hot water and let it cold slightly. You should apply the warm and wet tea bags to the swollen veins for about ten minutes. You should repeat this remedy two or three times per day. Also you can apply cold used tea bags to the hemorrhoids and let them stay for ten minutes. [8]
