Many people spend a lot of years trying to avoid getting pregnant. But when you actually want to conceive, then it is harder than you thought. Many women are discouraged if they do not get pregnant away, but doctors have said that it is normal to take up to year for women under 35 and up to six months for women over 35. If you have been trying for longer than this period, then your doctor will suggest you to try in vitro fertilization (also known as IVF). But, if you are having trouble, then there are other ways which your doctor can help you to get pregnant without IVF, whether you are in outside that timeframe. There is nothing wrong with IVF, but it can be costly and it does not have a guaranteed success rate and it can be tough on you and your partner. In the most cases, the IVF is not necessary. It is not just that other stuff work, sometimes there are very good reasons why the IVF does not work.
There are some studies in which are said that a third of fertility problems can be attributed to the male partner and another third due to unknown factors, so this is a reason why it takes time for doctors to be sure what method of pregnancy assistance will work for you. There are many different tests to diagnose the problem and each of them has individualized treatments. But there are some cases when you may not need IVF even if you are struggling. Once you have started the conversation with your doctor, he or she can help you to do some things which can help you to stay pregnant without IVF. You should never try to insert the semen into your cervix or uterus. At – home insemination can only be vaginal. When you are injecting the semen into the cervix or uterus, then it is very risky and it can be fatal. You should be sure that you are protected from STDs.

Track your ovulation
If you have regular periods, then this does not mean that you are ovulating. This is a reason why doctors are recommending women to use predictor kit to see if they are ovulating. Also, your doctor can monitor your cycle with blood work, to make sure that your hormone levels are correct and an ultrasound to see if there is a follicle forming and the lining of the uterus is thick enough. Also, your doctor may check your blood progesterone levels to see if you actually ovulated. These are basic tests from which your doctor can see if you are ovulating and if you are ovulating, when it is the right timing.
Test the sperm
There are many cases when women blame their selves that they are reason why they are not pregnant, but as we know, males can have problems with the fertility too. Doctors do not do anything that is painful or invasive until they do a semen analysis. If there is a man in the picture, in many cases doctors find that the guy has no sperm or it is moving in the wrong direction. For many doctors, this is part of the initial fertility evaluation. If doctors notice that everything is good in men, then they will continue with other steps.
Turn the lights out
There are some studies in which are said that the presence of ambient light during sleep can have a fundamental and independent effect on a woman’s reproductive function. There should be done a lot more studies in future to fully understand the relationship between the light during sleep and fertility. You should remove all ambient light during sleep because it is a generally a low – cost, manageable, home – based and natural approach which have demonstrated increase in the fertility in a period of 6 months for 54% of the women in the study which was done.
Take Folic acid
There are some studies in which are said that the folic acid can give you a more healthy fetal development than conception. This vitamin is so essential during the first weeks of pregnancy, it is important to highlight it now. It is important to get 400 – 800 mcg of folic acid a day, so this can help to prevent neural tube defects.
Ensure quality and quantity of sleep
It is still unknown how much sleep you need to get for the optimal fertility and what are the best times to sleep and wake up, but there are some studies in which are said that the quality and quantity of sleep is playing a role in the fertility. Also, some doctors say that sleeping more with the sun, going to bed sooner and waking sooner can help to increase the chances of getting pregnant without IVF. These claims are backed up with studies in which are suggested that this would support the natural circadian rhythms and in turn, it favorably affect the fertility hormones. This is particularly meaningful for women who work rotating shifts or nights whose work requires much travel across time zones. Also, it was noticed that in women, perturbations in the daily rhythms and sleep deprivation is associated with an increased menstrual cycle irregularity, increased risk of miscarriage and difficulty in conceiving.
Get a HSG
HSG is hysterosalpingography. This is a diagnostic test which will look to see if your fallopian tubes are open. Your doctor will inject a dye into your vagina and he or she will take an X – ray and it will track the progress. And for not known reason, women tend to get pregnant after having it done. No one really knows why, but the fertility after HSG is increased. Some simple explanation is that with the HSG, the fallopian tubes are clean, so this is increasing your chances of getting pregnant.
Quit smoking and alcohol
You should not drink alcohol at all if you want to stay pregnant soon. Also, your partner should not drink more than 14 units of alcohol a week, which should be spread evenly over three days or more. If he drinks alcohol excessively, then it can affect his sperm. Smoking and the passive smoking can reduce the fertility in women. If you smoke and you cannot quit on your own, then you should talk with your doctor. There is also a link between smoking and poorer quality sperm, but the effect on the male fertility is not certain. But when your partner will quit smoking, then his general health will be improved. There is no clear evidence in a link between caffeine, which is found in drinks, such as cola, tea and coffee and fertility problems. Also, it is noticed that a lot of prescription, over – the – counter and recreational drugs can interfere with the male and female fertility, so you should talk with your doctor if you are concerned about your health and getting pregnant.
Optimize your weight
There was one study in 2014 in which was shown that the health is of your reproductive system depend a lot of weight. It has been shown that if you are overweight or underweight, then it can compromise your fertility. This is a reason why you should talk with your doctor about the best diet which you can take, so in this way, you will keep your weight in a good shape.
Address the mental and emotional stress
The mental and emotional stress are both related to fertility, miscarriage, birthing and motherhood. There was one study done in 2014 in which was said that the stress is a major factor among couples who have failed to get pregnant despite six months of targeted intercourse. Also, there was a study in 2011 in which was said that the emotional distress is not an issue where IVF success is concerned. This is a reason why you should do things which can help you to stay away from the emotional and mental problems, so you increase your fertility.
Get a saline ultrasound
The saline ultrasound is similar to HSG and it is used to see what is happening in your reproductive tract. Like the HSG, the saline ultrasound is linked to an increase in the fertility. If you get a saline ultrasound, then you have increased chances of getting pregnant, so talk with your doctor what is the best way to do it.
Receive HCG injections
HCG is a shortcut for human chorionic gonadotropin. Your doctor can give you a shot of HCG which will force the ovulation and maximize your cycle. This can be done with artificial insemination, as well as depending on what you and your partner are up for.
Take Clomid
The Clomid is a drug which is used to stimulate the ovulation. This drug will definitely enhance the fertility in someone, even if they are known to have normal ovulatory function. Usually, your doctor will give you a Clomid and he will monitor your cycle to make sure that you are not being over-stimulated.
