Stinky feet – natural treatments and home remedies

Stinky feet is also known as bromhidrosis. People who suffer from this condition feel a lot of shame. When your feet start to sweat and your sweat does not evaporate because you wear socks or shoes, then you get a condition which is known as smelly feet or stinky feet. You have bacteria in your skin which is growing when they feed on your dead skin cells and the sweat which it gives you bad odor. There are many natural cures which can help you to improve your condition. You will need to them in some period if you want to have the best results. Most of them can help you to improve your condition in one week. You can apply talcum powder on your feet which can help you a lot. This natural remedy will help you to rid of the bad smell. You can also use some quality antiperspirant which can help your feet to be dry for longer. In some cases is prescribed to try different home remedies until you have noticed improvements in your condition. If you have noticed that your condition is not improved after you have tried some home remedies, then you should visit your doctor. Here are some natural remedies which can help you to rid of the bad odor:

Home remedies for stinky feet

Baking soda: If you suffer from stinky feet, then you can use baking soda as your natural remedy. It can reduce the bacteria and also it can neutralize the pH balance of your sweat [1]. In warm water you should add baking soda. For every quart of water you should add one tablespoon of baking soda. You should soak your feet in this mixture in a period of 15 – 20 minutes. You should repeat this home remedy every night in a period of one week. Also you can put baking soda in your socks and shoes before you wear them.

Cornstarch: You should put small amount of cornstarch on your stinky feet. This can help you to eliminate the bad smell because it prevents the excessive sweating. [2]

Salt: You will need kosher salt. Add this kind of salt in lukewarm water. Then, you should soak your stinky feet in the water. You should let your feet to dry in natural way.

Lavender oil: This is one of the best kinds of oils because it smells very nice. But also this kind of oil will help you to kill the bacteria which is a reason for the stinky feet [3]. Also the lavender oil has antifungal properties which can help you to reduce the feet odor. In warm water you should put few drops of lavender essential oil. You should soak your stinky feet in this mixture for a period of fifteen to twenty minutes. You should repeat this treatment twice per day in a period of few days.

Bleach: In a tub you should put lukewarm water and then add few drops of bleach in the water. You should soak your stinky feet in this kind of mixture. You should repeat this home remedy once per week. If you have noticed that your feet are dry, then you should use baby oil as your natural treatment.

Alum: You should use alum powder if you suffer from stinky feet. It has antiseptic and astringent properties which can help you to rid of this condition. Also this kind of powder can inhibit the growth of the bacteria. In one cup of warm water you should add one teaspoon of alum powder. You should wash your feet with this kind of mixture. Wash them for a period of fifteen to twenty minutes. After this period has passed you should make your feet dry. Then, you should put alum powder on your feet. Epsom salt: This kind of remedy will help you to neutralize the foot odor and also it will help you to fight against the microbial infection. This will help you to improve your condition. You should make an Epsom salt bath. It can detoxify your feet and also it will have a soothing effect for your condition. In half a bucket of warm water you should mix 2 teaspoons of Epsom salt. Then, you should soak your stinky feet in this kind of solution for a period of ten to fifteen minutes. If you want to have the best results, then you should do this treatment before you go to bed. In this period you know that you should not wear shoes and socks which mean this is the perfect period of the day to make this home treatment.

Zinc: This element will help you if you suffer from stinky feet. You should eat apples because they contain zinc. [5]

Black tea: This kind of tea has tannic acid which can help to kill the bacteria which is a reason for the stinky feet. Also this kind of tea will help you to close the pores of your feet which mean that it will reduce the amount of sweat which is the food for the bacteria. In 3 cups of hot water you should boil 2 black tea bags. Then, you should add ½ bucket of normal water which can help you to lower the temperature of this remedy. Then, you should soak your feet in this kind of mixture for a period of fifteen to twenty minutes. You should do this treatment once per day in a period of one week.

Cloves: In your socks and shoes you should put cloves. In this way your feet will smell fresh. [4]

Vinegar: This product will help you to rid of the stinky feet. This is possible because the vinegar can create acidic environment which means that bacteria cannot live in it. You can use any type of vinegar for the smelly feet but is the best to use apple cider vinegar for your smelly feet. In 6 – 8 cups of hot water you should add ½ cup of vinegar. Then, you should soak your feet in this mixture in a period of ten to fifteen minutes. Then, you should wash your feet with soap because this will help you to reduce the smell of vinegar of your feet. [6]

Vegetable oil: You should rub your feet with vegetable oil. Then, you should put soaks on your feet and wear it for few minutes.

Borax: This product will kill the bacteria which is a reason for the smelly feet. In two cups of water you should add ½ cup of vinegar and ½ cup of borax. You should spray your shoes with this solution. You should spray the inner part of your shoes. Before you put your shoes you can spray borax powder in them. This will also help you to rid of the bad smell.

Sugar scrub: When you remove the calluses and dead skin from your feet it will also help you to fight against the stinky feet. If you want to prevent the formation of the calluses, then you should use scrubber on regular basis. You can make a scrub in your home. You should mix 91% of isopropyl alcohol (also this percent can be above), clean water and sugar. You should put more sugar than water because in this way you will create a thick paste. You should use one part of isopropyl alcohol with five parts of water. You should use this kind of mixture to scrub your feet because in this way you will remove bacteria and dead skin cells. Then, you should wash your feet. You should repeat this method at least three times per week. If you want to have the best results, then you should soak your feet in the water first and then you should use this kind of remedy.

Sage: We know that when we sweat, then we have unpleasant odor of our feet. Sage leaves can help us to rid of this condition. They have tannic acid which can help us to reduce the sweat which is a reason for this condition. Also this herb has antifungal and antibacterial properties which also will help us to rid of stinky feet. You should put dried sage in your socks and shoes. This herb will help you to absorb the odor. Also you will feel that you have fresh smell. Also you can use sage tea as your natural treatment. You should soak your feet with this tea in a period of fifteen minutes. Also you can drink one cup of sage tea before you go to the bed.

Ginger root: If you suffer from stinky feet, then you can use ginger root as your natural treatment. It will help you to remove the toxins from your body and also it will inhibit the growth of bacteria. You will need a medium sized ginger root to make a puree. You should steep this puree in hot water for period of ten to fifteen minutes. You will need a coffee filter because it will help you to strain this remedy. You should use this remedy to massage your feet every night before you go to sleep. You should repeat this treatment once per day if you want to have the best results. [6]
