Pimento is a big evergreen tree which is native to South America and Caribbean Islands. The botanical name of pimento is Pimenta Officinalis or Pimenta Dioica. The suffix Officinalis which is used in the botanical name suggests its medicinal properties.

In some countries pimento is known as allspice.
