MRSA treatment at home – aloe vera, turmeric, garlic and honey

Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) is an infection that is caused by staph or Staphylococcus, which is bacteria. For many decades we have used antibiotics that are not necessary, and these bacteria evolved through this usage. Also, they have learned to resist many different antibiotics.

Usually, the staph bacteria live in the nose and on the skin, and it is not cause harm. When these bacteria begin to multiply uncontrollably, then the MRSA infection happens, especially when you have a cut or break in your skin.

MRSA is highly contagious. It can spread very fast through direct contact with an infected person. Also, someone can become infected when he or she comes in contact with a surface or object that the infected person has touched.

There are some studies in which it is said that about 1 in 3 people carry staph in their nose, and this is not causing any illness, while 2 in 100 people carry MRSA. MRSA is classified as either HA – MRSA (hospital-acquired MRSA) or CA – MRSA (community-acquired MRSA). The HA – MRSA is associated with infections that are contracted in medical facilities like nursing homes or hospitals. The CA – MRSA infection is transmitted through close personal contact with an infected person or through direct contact with an infected wound. Talk with your doctor if you suffer from MRSA before you start using some of the below-mentioned home remedies. [1]

What is the fastest way to get rid of MRSA?

Oil of oregano

The oil of oregano is very effective against dangerous and sometimes drug-resistant bacteria. It has antibacterial nature, which can kill bacteria, and it can control staph infections like CA – MRSA. Also, it has pain–relieving, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antiseptic properties which can aid in faster recovery.

There was one study in which it was said that carvacrol (which is the chemical composition of the oregano oil) could reduce staph infection as effectively as traditional antibiotics. There was another study in which it was said that oregano oil is very effective on Staphylococcus epidermis strains and Staphylococcus aureus.

You should mix eight to ten drops of oregano oil in two tablespoons of olive oil or any other carrier oil. You should apply this home remedy to the affected area and let it stay there for a few hours. Then, you should wash it off using lukewarm water and pat dry the area thoroughly. You should reapply it several times a day.

Also, there is another option, and that is to mix two or three drops of oregano oil in one glass of water or fruit juice. You should drink it two times per day for a period of a week. Pregnant women should avoid intake of oregano oil. [2]

Manuka honey

It has natural healing and antibacterial properties, which can help to control CA–MRSA. When the manuka honey is applied to the site of the infection, then the honey works to pull the infection out of the body. Also, it can sterilize the wound, and it can speed up the healing process. You should dab some manuka honey on the infected site. You should allow it to stay there for a few hours before you wash it off using lukewarm water. You should repeat this natural treatment a few times per day until the infection clears. You should remember that manuka honey is sticker than commercial honey. [3]

Garlic

Garlic is also a very effective home remedy for curing CA – MRSA. Also, it has natural enzymes which aid in balancing the pH level of the body, and it works as a strong antibiotic component. It has allicin which provides antibiotic power to garlic. Allicin is more complex than synthetic antibiotics, and it is unlikely that the bacteria strains will become resistant to allicin or garlic.

Also, this natural cure has several sulfur compounds which can boost the immune system. After you have cleaned the affected area, you should smear some garlic oil on it and cover it using a bandage. You should remove the bandage after a few hours. You should do this natural treatment two times per day for a period of a few days.

You should eat a few raw garlic cloves on an empty stomach on a daily basis, and you should include garlic in your cooking. Also, you can take garlic supplements after you have talked with your doctor. [4]

Natural cures for MRSA

Aloe Vera

This is one of the best natural antibiotics which can be used against drug-resistant bacteria because it possesses antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. Also, it can reduce your symptoms, and it will heal your skin. There was one study in which it was found that the Aloe Vera gel preparation can be a very effective home remedy for treating infections that are caused by multi-drug resistant organisms.

You should put two tablespoons of Aloe Vera gel into a bowl. You should add two to three teaspoons of turmeric powder to it. You should mix it well and then apply it to the affected area. You should cover it using a bandage and then let it stay there through the night. You should do this natural treatment until the infection clears. [5]

Turmeric

This is a very effective home remedy for CA – MRSA infection. It has antibacterial properties due to the compound curcumin, and it helps to fight the bacterial infection. Also, it has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, which aid in healing the infected site.

You should mix one teaspoon of turmeric powder with one tablespoon of coconut oil, and you should apply it to the infected area. You should cover the affected area with a bandage. You should change the bandage and reapply this home remedy two times per day until the infection clears.

Also, there is another option that you can make from turmeric. You can mix equal amounts of turmeric and bentonite clay powder with enough water to make a paste. You should spread this paste onto the boils. Cover it using a bandage and then change it two times per day.

Also, you can boil one teaspoon of turmeric powder in one cup of milk and then allow it to simmer for a couple of minutes. You should strain it and then drink this home remedy two or three times a day. If you want to use turmeric supplements, then you need to talk with your doctor. [6]

Warm compresses

You should apply a warm compress on the affected area if you want to treat the swollen, red, and painful bumps on your skin that are caused by CA – MRSA. It is known that the heat from the warm compress will help to draw the blood flow to the area, and it can help to destroy the harmful bacteria which are responsible for this infection. Also, it will give you relief from swelling and pain.

You should mix some common salt in a bowl of water and then stir it thoroughly. You should soak a clean washcloth in it, then squeeze the excess water of it and press it over the affected area. You should repeat this natural treatment throughout the day until the small bumps erupt and the pus drains out. You should clean the area thoroughly, and you should apply a medicated ointment to prevent further infection.

Tea tree oil

This is a powerful antibiotic that can help in the natural treatment of CA – MRSA. It has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which can help you to get relief from the skin discomforts that are caused by this infection.

You should mix two or three drops of the tea tree oil in one teaspoon of olive oil or any other carrier oil. You should dab it on the affected area. Let it stay there for a few hours before you wash it off using lukewarm water. You should follow this home remedy two or three times a day.

Also, you can add several drops of tea tree oil to your bath water because this can support skin decolonization. You should enjoy this bath for fifteen to twenty minutes once per day. You should avoid putting tea tree oil directly on an open wound because this can cause severe pain. You should not ingest this tea because it can lead to side effects. [7]

Apple cider vinegar

This is also a very effective home remedy for staph infections because it has strong antibiotic properties. It can help to kill the bacteria, reduce the associated symptoms, and heals any lesions. Also, this natural cure can boost the immune system to stop further infections.

You should mix equal amounts of raw and unfiltered apple cider vinegar and water. You should use this home remedy to clean the affected area once or twice per day.

Also, you can add one to two tablespoons of raw and unfiltered apple cider vinegar to one glass of warm and filtered water. You should add some manuka honey to it and drink it two times per day. [8]
