Jamun is known by many other names, such as jambul, jambolan, jamblang, jambolao, etc. This is a fruit which changes the color from green, when it is young, to black/purplish when it is mature. It is an evergreen tropical tree. It belongs to the Myrtaceae family. It is native to Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan and India. Also, it is grown in the other areas of the southern Asia, such as Afghanistan, Nepal and Myanmar.

The tree is fast – growing specie which can grow as high as 30 meters and it can live more than 100 years.
